Where have I been!?

Hi guys!

I hope you're all okay! The sunshine is actually out today for a change, I could to so far as to say it feels like summer! (Almost)

Well I thought I would do a post today to say I am so very sorry for deserting you all and not posting for what feels like a decade... I have been so busy with one thing or another so my mind unfortunately hasn't been on my blog.

I have been doing a lot on Instagram though and I'm really enjoying it! If you have it too do you fancy following each other? I really like to support the other makeup bloggers so always like to help and follow back where I can!

So if you're interested... http://www.instagram.com/jessicacantell

My latest post has been featuring a new book I've been reading called, 'The Last Letter From Your Lover' by Jojo Moyles - I love her books, she's such a good author. Have any of you got any good book suggestions?

Lovely to be writing with you again, hope to post again soon and do head over to Instagram too if you'd like to be friends there 😄

All the best,
Jessica x

Most Wanted

Hey there,

So I was just doing a bit of online shopping when I thought to myself... I'm doing a bit too much online shopping :| Don't we all have that moment? Or do some of you have better control?! (Hats off to you if so!)

That led me to write this blog post, my most wanted items! I thought I would put them on a list and if I still want them in a week or two then I guess they're not going anywhere :)
Here they are:

Jelaca Blogs

I found this on ASOS as they normally have some good makeup deals. At the moment this one is reduced from £10.99 to £7.69 which is a nice amount off if you need a new primer!
Has anyone tried this? Let me know what you think!

Everyone knows how popular these are at the moment! I'd really like to find one because they look super cool... Plus it's always fun buying new swimwear :) The summer is only just beginning!
I found this one from Missguided, it's only £10 for the top which I thought was pretty good!

You see a lot of the regular black suede band choker necklaces which are cool, but this is a little different to the norm and caught my eye. It's a really pretty chain with a lovely square pendant in the middle. It's only £5 at ASOS and they're still doing free delivery! I have been inspired a lot recently by Stephanie Pratt's Instagram page... She has some lovely necklaces :)

4. elf Studio Flawless Finish Foundation

Now, I don't know about you, but when I buy something it's usually based the reviews! I had a look on Youtube at some beauty blogger's reviews on this foundation and the few I saw said they really liked it. They mentioned it has good coverage and I am a little worried it may be slightly too heavy but would like to give it a go. It's only £7.50

5. Cushions...

Lastly I wanted to add something for the home. As you may know, (From my last post) I am going to be moving into my first flat on Tuesday! (Yayyyy!!) and so thought this would be fitting!
This gorgeous cushion is much too expensive for me, but was one of the most lovely patterns I had seen. This is Ralph Lauren and costs a whole £59 :'( If any of you are rich and lucky enough to be able to buy this gem, then the link is in the title above!

Thats all folks. Let me know your thoughts :)

Moving in Day!

EXCITING...!

So on Tuesday I am going to be moving into my new flat!!! It's my first ever home and I can't wait for the day to come! I just wanted to share this with you all to let you know what I'm doing at the mo :)

When I'm all settled it will be much easier to post blog posts and do photos etc, because I'll be able to spread out and it will just be me. Maybe in the next couple of weeks I'll do a post to show it to you guys!

Hope you're all okay, speak soon :) <3

EU Referendum - In or Out?

So there's been a lot of talk and anger about the result of whether or not we stay in the EU.
I don't know what your thoughts are on this and maybe I'm opening a whole can of worms by posting about this, I don't know!

I'll start by saying, what did you want to happen today? Did you vote yesterday?

I hope I am not criticized by sharing my thoughts on this... I know a lot of people on Facebook have been saying it is such a mistake and that they are so upset to have left! However, I am going to honestly say that I wanted to leave.

I know that there are a lot of scary things that could happen now that we have left, but I also feel that the Eurpean Union was beginning to get very controlling and we don't know what things they could restrict us with in the future. It's all up in the air at the moment and there is a lot of worry, but we have to let the dust settle as this is going to be a long process.

We are still European! I don't see why they wouldn't want us in the Eurovision - Australia were even in it the last two years! (Plus we're so fab, they'd miss us too much!)

All I want to say really, is don't worry too much if you're upset about this... Britain is an amazing country and we have done such fantastic things in the past, so we can get through this.

Would love to hear your thoughts... Please don't be too mean to me!
Oh, and I almost forgot. Poor David Cameron has lost his job, so I thought I'd share a sketch I did of him!

Hope you have a lovely rest of the day... Maybe now when people ask if you're an innie or outy they won't be talking about belly buttons?

SO EXCITED! Real Techniques Brushes

Hello, hello, hello!!

I am so excited because today my Real Techniques Brushes finally arrived! Waiting for a delivery is just the most frustrating thing... Especially when it is something to do with makeup :))

I ordered the Nic's Picks set, which includes the following brushes:
  • Duo-Fiber Face Brush
  • Cheek Brush
  • Angled Shadow Brush
  • Base Shadow Brush
  • Eyeliner Brush
I mainly ordered this set because I had wanted the Eyeliner Brush - There were a few other sets which included this brush... Or I could buy it as a single brush (Which is wayyy more expensive), but this set stood out to me!
I liked the fact there was a range of brushes, with face ones as well as just eye brushes. The main reason I wanted the Eyeliner Brush was to use it for my eyebrows :)

Any of the brushes I have to do my eyebrows with at the moment are too chunky, and this doesn't work for doing intricate and detailed brows. This one is a lot more refined and helps to create very fine lines!
Some of the other brushes look fab too... Especially the Cheek Brush (Which is exclusive to this set) and the Base Shadow Brush

Who else has got this set? Have you tried the Eyeliner Brush? What are your favourite Real Techniques brushes?

Looking forward to hearing your replies!

Here I am... Again

Hello Everyone...

<3 <3 <3

I'm not sure if you're all still with me, but I just wanted to say that I am so, so, so very sorry that it has taken me so long to write another post. I don't know what happened, but sometimes don't you find (other bloggers) that you can get a bit overwhelmed with blogging and need a break?

Well that was me, and as I said... I'm sorry x

I think Blogmas took it out of me if I'm honest. I don't think I will be doing it again for a while :( It drained my inspiration as I was trying a bit too hard to think of worthy posts.
I actually went and deleted them all just now :O

So yes, this is really just a hello, howdy, hi post to say I'm back! Hope you're all having a good week :) Look forward to posting with you again!!

Jelaca x

P.s. I scrapped the old theme of something old, something new, something borrowed, something you... Sorry if you liked that (I can keep doing it if you miss it!)

Something You - Scrunchies...

Hello!

Sorry it's been a while... a year even ;) (I had to say it!) I hope you all had a wonderful festive season, now that it is all out of the way, I am focused on my blog again as I feel it has had rather a long Christmas break.

I was having a think about what I could do for my first post back kind of thing, and had a think about something I've wanted and have been meaning to get into for a little while. That is scrunchies!
When I say "get into" I mainly mean because I don't think I'm cool enough yet to wear them, but they're certainly something I want to start wearing this 2016.

Topshop have some really cute colours available. Considering they are mainly priced at £4, you may want to be careful when selecting the colour you want (Unless you got loads of money for Christmas and want to bash out!)

Here is a small selection with buy links from their website: Topshop Scrunchies
All of these styles should be on that page. Enjoy :)

Something You - A Very Simple Nail Look...

Hope you are all having a wonderful last day of the week! Tomorrow is the weekend so we can all be happy :)

I thought I would post a little simple nail look for you all to copy! It is so simple that I don't think I can even call it a tutorial, but it is pretty so I thought I'd share <3

Step One: Firstly using a dark red nail polish just paint 1-2 coats. You can even alter this look by using a dark blue or purple instead, whichever you fancy most!

Step Two: Using Lottie London's nail polish in To and FROW, just paint over the base coat. You'll only need one coat of this as there is a lot of glitter coverage!
*You may want to apply a clear coat over the top, as it isn't as shiny as you might like.

Step Three: Oh wait... That's it! It's really that simple ;)

Hope you like this, let me know what you think! Happy weekend for tomorrow xxx

Something New - Makeup Buys...

Hello!

Yesterday I went to Superdrug and noticed they had the 3 for 2 offer (where you spend hours in the shop looking for the third free item...) I am guilty and have to say I found this too hard to resist!
So after seeing Revolution's eyeshadow palettes at such an amazing price I went on the hunt for two other products to go with the deal.

The Revolution pallete I chose was Iconic 3 for only £4! :O I chose this because of the pink and peachy shades and the range of tones within the set. This is something I think is very important with palettes as you often get some that don't have very dark shades, they can sometimes be very medium tones which can make it difficult to create dramatic looks!
After using this today, I can say I am very happy with it. The colours show up really well and the pigmentation is fabulous! The range of different shades is great, so really helps with building up tones for a smokey eye look.

I may have to have a look at some of their other palettes (and start all over with the 3 for 2 offer... Yay!)

The second product I bought was another from Revolution. I was in need of a new liquid eyeliner, so I thought I would give their one a go. At only £3.50, I couldn't really go wrong ;) It is called Double Flick and Thin and has two ends. One end is obviously thin and the other thick! I used the thin side this morning and felt it was great for precision and creates a really great flick! I was a little apprehensive as anyone is with using a new eyeliner, but have to say I was pleasantly surprised and it is definitely worth the money.

I was initially looking for something for under £3/4 so that I wouldn't have to spend more than I had intended... Not that I had intended to buy 3 items in the first place! However as you do, I came across Lottie London. I found their nail polish range and was so excited to see To and FROW! What a gorgeous colour it is... It has pink/red glitter with a blue shimmer and looks absolutely gorgeous on! Now, I did spend more than £3/4, as this polish was £5.99 which I would normally not pay for a nail varnish, but as this was in the offer, it only cost me a little bit..!

I find it works best if you use a base coat of a deep blue or maybe even a dark pink colour, as it really brings out the sparkle :) I will show you a nail tutorial for this if people would like to see it!

Let me know what you think of these products, have any of you tried these?
Thanks for reading, Jelaca <3

Something You - What I love about Autumn/Winter!

What I love about Autumn/Winter!

Picture this... The rain pouring down outside with the frosty cold wind that accompanies the Winter season (I'm really selling it so far). However your are nice and warm with your pjs on and the softest blanket around you while you're sipping on a smooth cup of hot chocolate watching Disney movies. HOW GREAT DOES THAT SOUND!?

I think the beginning of Autumn is my favourite season! It is such a nice feeling when you realise that you can now finally wear your winter coat and clothes :)

I just feel like Summer is always disappointing, you may get a week of wonderful sunshine, but unless you go abroad then that is usually it! At least with the later part of the year you can be sure of the weather.

Not only this but I don't feel so guilty about staying in and doing cosy things such as watching the telly or writing blog posts (Very important things!).

So what do you like about Autumn/Winter the best? Hopefully it's not the end of it that you prefer! I'll tell you one other thing, the best thing about it... CHRISTMAS! Who's counting down?

Something Through - Max Factor Clump Defy

This mascara is nearly coming to an end! :(

I bought this after having tried other Max Factor mascaras before and I really like this!
Normally when I put mascara on I have to use eyelash curlers because otherwise the mascara goes clumpy. However this mascara I can apply with no prep and it goes on almost perfectly without clumps! (Hence the name...)

It has quite hard bristles which I used to avoid before, but have really come round since using this and some of Max Factor's other mascaras, I think that all helps with achieving no clumps.
Another thing I really like about this is that the wand is bowed and therefore enables a really easy application and makes your lashes look great!

It is currently sold at £10.99 in Boots stores and I definitely think it is worth it. It is as good as any of the higher priced mascaras I have tried and sometimes Boots even do a 3 for 2 deal which makes it even better (they are at the moment!), so in my opinion, it is very good value for money :)

Thank you for reading! x

Something You – Autumn 2015 Lip Shades

Seeing as it is now definitely Autumn (Although it is lovely and sunny today!) I thought I would do a seasonal blog post and post something for you. My favourite lip colours and shades for the Fall!

I have chosen my four favourites, I will run you through them below:

Bourjois (Rosewood Pearl) – I have had this lipstick for a little while and it is a really nice shade to wear. I feel like you don’t have to be too daring to wear this shade and it goes with a lot of makeup looks which is great! It is also more moisturising than some lipsticks which is important for when it starts to get colder :)

L’Oreal (Place Vendome) – I was given this lipstick for a present which was lovely! I think it is a beautiful colour :) Normally I don’t like red lipsticks because a lot are too bright or they just don’t suit me, but I feel like this is better because it has slightly darker tones and gives a beautiful colour when applied.

Rimmel (Amethyst Shimmer) – If you want to add a bit of colour to your look, this is a great lipstick to go for. It is fabulous for the transition between Summer and Winter because it’s not too bright (like something you might wear in the Summer) but still provides a lovely pop of colour for your lips with a really sophisticated tone :)

No7 (Under the Sun) – Finally I have chosen this lovely lipstick shade. It pretty much sums up Autumn to me. It has really rich, coppery, earthy tones and I think it is beautiful on. Again, as with all of the shades I have chosen, it is not too bright and will make your lips look absolutely gorgeous!

Let me know what you think, tell me if you have other favourites for Autumn, I would love to hear from you :)
All the best

Something New – H&M Nail Polish (Malin’s Mirage)

Yesterday I went shopping (Yay!) and found this beautiful nail varnish from H&M. I couldn’t resist the colour, I have been looking for a purple/pink sort of colour for a while so I am very pleased!

To make the whole thing better, it only cost me £1 because it was on sale :)

So as you can tell, I love the colour! The application was fairly easy as it has a rectangular brush rather than the regular kind of brush. I always prefer the rectangular kinds because they enable a much more smooth gliding action which is great.

I can’t comment on the durability, as I have only been wearing it since yesterday. However, I have had nail polishes in the past that have had chips in the next morning! :O At least this one is still all in tact after one night…

There we have it. The first post in the Something New category. You can probably see that I love this nail polish so far, so if you can get your hands on one before they are all gone then great for you!

Thank you for reading, have a lovely day

New Blog!

I have started so many blogs over the years! I think I get too excited at the beginning and then get stuck for post ideas…

I’m not going to do that this time though and if anyone reading wants to help me keep going, then you would be most welcome! So what I’m really asking, is for any ideas, suggestions or requests for posts.
Until then I will just be posting reviews of my favourite products, maybe some tutorials and posts like that :)

I really hope you will like them and find them interesting! I am looking forward to sharing this blog with you.

All the best,

Jelaca x
